The Mossman River hold s a very special place in my heart. I have always connected strongly with the North Queensland region and particularly the Daintree. Over the years I had visited this spot many many time. On this occasion I wanted to catch the flow on effect of 3 days rain across the faces of the boulders. The rush of the flood was a furious pace and a long exposure ensured I kept the wash of the river in long sweeping effects.

PHOTO TIP

Long exposures of any kind always need a way to keep your camera dead still. Images with an 8 second exposure like this one, require a serious tripod, to withstand the tiniest of vibrations and wind. Keep your tripod feet as wide as possible to maintain a strong platform. The wider the feet of your tripod, the less risk of movement. You may also need a remote trigger, or do as I do, when I forget mine, use the timer on your camera. It works a treat.
