On tripod, Canon 5DMk2, 300mm, F8, 1/10th sec, ISO 160, no filter, processed in Lightroom.

This is one of the most beautiful falls in the Milford region. Surrounded by mile high ice capped peaks all round, its basin flows directly into the sound itself, and makes for a spectacle year round. I had to be fast to capture this image, as I was on a cruise boat and I had requested the captain set anchor so I could capture the image for New Zealand Tourism. After a good 10 minutes the boat was still enough to allow me to capture the falls with a slow enough shutter to paint movement into the image, but fast enough to ensure the rest shot remained sharp.Not easy, and quite frustrating, but the result was worth it.

When presented with the opportunity to capture an image that would otherwise be impossible, do all you can to assist yourself. Ask for help or access to an area. Determine your setting before you get to the shot, so the people you may have asked for help, are not put out to much by your request. In certain situation, if you have a commercial assignment, thats different and a full explanation to whoever you are getting assist from, should greatly help you achieve the image.
