CAPTURE DETAILS

On tripod, Canon 5DMk2, 20mm, F10, 1/2 sec, ISO 100, no filter, processed in Lightroom.

This image was captured under a threatening sky. I could have sworn it looked as though aliens were about to invade through the clouds. The sun teased the whole area with tiny patches of light into the clouds that never shone all the way through. It was like a light show in the sky, just as a massive dark storm rolled in from behind me. This lone little tree stood rigid in the wind and seemed like it had always done so. I salute your endeavour little man, you are indeed tolerant up there.

PHOTO TIP

Try to include the stormy elements of the scene in your landscape photography. This is where the mood and drama of what you experienced when capturing the image comes to the fore. Many photographers pack up and go at the hint of rain on the horizon, but if you stick it out, you’ll find yourself experiencing something bigger than you, and that you’ll have a permanent memory of.
