I watched this little boy get out of his parent’s car and start sprinting towards Luna Park. Rain or not, he was going to get there. This made for a great image, capturing the excitement of a day at an amusement park. His excitement was addictive. Even with a massive thunderstorm rolling in from the other side of the harbour, he was determined. I had to be fast with where I was standing and wait for him to pass so I could catch the scene exactly as he ran through it.

PHOTO TIP

This image has so many elements in it. The little boy and his excitement, the funny face of Luna Park in the background and the massive thunderstorm, which looked like it was rolling across the harbour to literally rain on his parade. If you find yourself witnessing something like this, turn your camera immediately to shutter priority and fire away. Let the camera do the rest so you don’t have to think. Pick a fast shutter and shoot. Trust in the camera’s ability to match your settings.
