On my way across the Olympic Peninsula, there were stunning scenes around every bend. I stopped along a lake to take in the scenery and watched as the sun lit up patches of an adjacent mountain. It was mid fall (autumn) and the colours were just incredible. bright yellows and vibrant red everywhere. Add to that a brilliant sunset and you have the making for beautiful lighting. I sat for around an hour and just watched, and funnily enough almost forgot about my camera.

PHOTO TIP

Trust your intuition. If you see an image that immediately strikes you, stop doing whatever you are doing and capture it. Even if its rough. At least you’ll have an idea for next time. Get into the habit of capturing photographs, wherever you are. Always have some forma of a camera with you, even if it’s just a smart phone, or a little point and shoot camera. The quality doesn’t matter unless you want to print artwork like this website. The point is, you are capturing a moment to remember.
