ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Tom’s Peak, Mt Jefferson, Oregon – Steve Rutherford Landscape Photography Gallery

This is an unframed, limited edition collection landscape photography print of only 25 units. It is printed on Hahnemuhle Fine Art Pearl papers, structured to refract the highest values in colour and detail. It’s high-quality ink absorbing layer enables exceptional image quality with enormously detailed sharpness, and a very broad colour range, providing archival permanency of your artwork for over 100 years.

CAPTURE DETAILS

On tripod, Canon 5DMk2, 300mm, F8, 1/250th sec, ISO 100, no filter, processed in Lightroom.

This image was captured from the foot of Mt Hood, approx. 80 miles to the north. I watched as the light changed eery minute and the cloud swirl around the peak condensed into a halo. The shades of colour became more and more distinct with the distance across the hills leading to the peak. Captured at 300mm, this view was literally the size of a postage stamp in the corner of the whole view.

PHOTO TIP

Push your lenses and camera as far as they will allow. Don’t be afraid to go right out to the full focal length of your lens to look for an image. I often do this exercise with my workshops students, and ask them to zoom all the way out on the camera and then “find an image” with a strong composition. Every time Im surprised by what is found. Its a great way to train your eye on composition and framing.
