I had spent the day looking around the area and ended up high in the mountains behind Mt Hood, on an icy road. I stopped to re-assess where I was and realised the Wenatchee Forest was just in front of me. I locked up and walked in the remaining mile to explore. The snow descended and so did the cloud heading straight for Mt Hood. The whole forest was sprinkled in light snow and I felt like I was in a wilderness shop for Christmas trees. I couldn’t help thinking that these trees looked as though they were the soldiers of the forest, proud to be there. I wanted to take one with me.

PHOTO TIP
You never know what’s around the corner. Just because you pull up in a carpark, walk the extra mile or so and explore what’s beyond. A big tip is to take your gear with you. I used to be lazy and just grab my camera alone. I missed so many great images because I wasn’t equipped properly because I’d left the necessary props back in the car.
