Up until 2 years before this image was captured, I have never heard of Ansel Adams. I know, crazy right? If you don’t know him either, he was America’s most recognised black and white landscape photographer. Yosemite was his canvas, so to speak. I ventured into the park with one intent. To capture great American landscapes with the inspiration of Ansel’s work. Not to copy him, but to see what he had to work with and then to capture my own view. To date, Yosemite still remains one of my favourite places to photograph in America.

PHOTO TIP

Sometimes there simply aren’t any words to describe a place other than epic. I have no doubt you feel the same way about spent he place near where you live. It doesn’t have to be a national park either, it could be your local river. Go, explore, capture the planet in your own backyard. Sure travel and see things, but capturing an image from your area is also a great gift, to yourself.
