Nikon A1 Compact, 20mm, F4, 1/125th sec, ISO 100, no filter, processed in Lightroom.

This image was captured without even looking through the viewfinder. I was trying to be discreet as a newcomer to Seattle, but saw an opportunity to capture three people all ignoring each other in a place thats meant to bring people together. A cafe. I know they did not know each other, but their body language speaks volumes. Such is the city life of the macchiato men, as I call them.

PHOTO TIP

Using black and white to depict street life is extremely powerful, but when you capture  the nuances of the life in that area, you also find the personalities. That’s what you want in street life images. Not just buildings and man made things, but personalities. Even of they are sending out vibes to deter anyone crowding their alone time, that is part of their personality trait. Capture it.
